Karen L. Perry, MPA, International POPs Elimination Network, Physicians for Social Responsibility, 1101 14th Street, NW, Suite 700, Washington, DC 20005, 202-898-0150, kperry@psr.org

The International POPs Elimination Network (IPEN) is a global network of public interest non-governmental organizations united in support of a common POPs Elimination Platform. The mission of IPEN, which now includes more than 260 organizations in 50 countries, is to work for the global elimination of persistent organic pollutants, primarily through ongoing United Nations negotiations toward a global POPs treaty. Public health organizations, including Physicians for Social Responsibility and the International Society of Doctors for the Environment, and individual health professionals are an integral part of this network

Learning Objectives: 1) Identify the critical elements of a successful POPs elimination treaty. 2) Assess the role of public health professionals in an international grassroots campaign to achieve POPs elimination. 3) Evaluate the successes of the International POPs Elimination Network and identify future goals
