Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) populations present unique diabetes education challenges given their diversity in language, culture, history, adaptation to life in the United States. To address these unique needs, the National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP) developed a native language diabetes awareness campaign in collaboration with the NDEP AAPI Work Group, Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO) and National Asian Women's Health Organization (NAWHO). The radio and print media campaign features the message, "Control your diabetes. For life." and it has been translated into 11 different AAPI langauges. This presentation will describe the NDEP AAPI campaign, insights into working with AAPI native language media channels, partnerships with AAPI community health centers and community-based organizations, and how others can participate. This campaign is a beginning step in reaching this diverse population using culturally and linguistically appropriate strategies with diabetes control messages.

Learning Objectives: The audience will beable to describe the native langauge diabetes awareness campaign of the National Diabetes Education Program and how they can get involved
