Geoff Laredo, NIAAA, 6000 Executive Blvd., Suite 409, Bethesda, MD 20892, 301-443-3860, glaredo@willco.niaaa.nih.gov

NIAAA has conducted research on interventions for the continuum of drinking patterns from risky drinking to alcohol dependence. As the first major sponsor of National Alcohol Screening Day, NIAAA has gained perspective on the practical aspects of the difference in the readiness of persons at college age and adult members of the community to participate in alcohol screening. In the second year of screening implementation a greater emphasis was placed on promoting NASD to more diverse populations base. Data will be presented highlighting and comparing the two years of screening participation among various participants. The implications of the lessons learned from two years of national screening for the alcohol research agenda will be presented.

Learning Objectives: To present how the NASD data analyis and results will influence the alcohol research agenda
