Asian Pacific Islander Caucus of APHA

Submit Abstract

The Asian Pacific Islander (API) Caucus of the American Public Health Association invites abstracts for the 2003 Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California. The API Caucus encourages submissions for research and discussions that focus on the theme, “Behavior, Lifestyle, and Social Determinants of Health” as they apply to Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Although we will consider all submissions, we especially encourage work that examines:
  • Emerging Health Issues among API Populations
  • Environmental and Community Determinants of API Health
  • Grassroots and Community-level Efforts to Promote Health
  • Health Issues Relevant to Under-Studied API Subpopulations
  • Mental Health and Substance Abuse among Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders
  • The Documentation, Measurement, and Amelioration of Health Disparities Within API Populations
  • The Impact of Health Policies and the Organization of Health Services on the Health of API Populations
Oral, poster and roundtable presentation formats are available. Please refer to APHA general guidelines for further information on these formats and indicate the desired format on the abstract page. There are limited slots available for oral presentations, so please give the Program Committee as many presentation options as possible. Abstracts will be peer-reviewed, and accepted based on quality and relevance to Caucus priorities. Student submissions are encouraged and should be noted on the application.

NOTE: Submitters do not have to be members of APHA or of the API Caucus. However, authors of accepted abstracts must register for the APHA Annual Meeting and become an individual member of APHA in order to present at the meeting.
