Rules and tools of non-profit lobbying

Noreen Beatley, Public Policy Office, The Enterprise Foundation, 415 Second Street, NE, 2nd Floor, Washington, DC 20002, 202.543.4599 x12, nbeatley@enterprisefoundation.org

Nonprofits CAN lobby. In fact, lobbying for your cause is an essential part of your mission. Many 501(c)(3)s mistakenly believe that they are not allowed to lobby. This workshop outlines the extent to which nonprofits can lobby and become active “players.” Nonprofits will learn to be advocates in the legislative arena without jeopardizing their tax-exempt status. Topics covered include basic IRS regulations, basic expenditure accounting, and important “how to's.”
