Affiliate Poster Proposal

The Committee on Affiliates (CoA) is the representative body of APHA that represents 53 affiliates: one for each state, one for Washington, DC plus two in California and New York. All affiliates are also represented on the APHA Governing Council. As it has done for several years now, the CoA is inviting affiliates to propose poster abstracts for acceptance and exhibition at the 2005 annual meeting in New Orleans, LA (Nov. 5 -9). This year's conference theme is “Evidence-based Policy and Practice”. Poster proposals can be on any public health-related topic and should be a project sponsored by your affiliate or any of your affiliate members (individuals or groups).

The deadline for submitting poster abstracts is June 30, 2005. Authors will be contacted in late July-early August about poster abstract selection for exhibition. If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact Lakitia Mayo at (202) 777-2515 or lakitia.mayo@apha.org.

This year's conference theme is “Evidence-based Policy and Practice” however, poster proposals can be on any public health-related topic. The CoA is sponsoring a student poster contest for students currently enrolled in public heath-related classes and schools. Students are encouraged to submit proposals for work they have either completed or that is in the process and showing promising results. The student posters accepted for exhibition at the annual meeting will be judged by a sub-committee of the CoA, and the winning student poster author(s) will win a $100 cash prize—an author must be present at the poster session to receive the award.
