Occupational Health and Safety

Submit Abstract

The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Section welcomes abstracts on all topics related to workers’ health and safety. This year's meeting will mark the 35th anniversary of the Occupational Safety and Health Act. This year we are particularly interested in abstracts for papers or abstracts for full sessions with an empahsis on occupational safety and health regulation, policy, and economics. Also of interest are topics on OHS implementation strategies, which will help inform discussions at the meeting. Sessions on integration of health promotion and protection at the worksite, evaluation of program effectiveness, and translation of research into practice will be considered. Please refer to the list of suggested topics, and consider how your abstract may contribute to the Annual Meeting's theme "Evidence-Based Policy and Practice."

You are invited to submit an abstract for a poster, oral or roundtable presentation. Please refer to APHA’s general guidelines for further information on these formats and indicate the desired format on your abstract page.
If you are planning to submit a proposal for a full, 90-minute session, you will need to submit a brief abstract describing the objective of the full session along with an abstract for each paper to be included in the session. Your abstract should describe the role, point-of-view, or perspective brought by each of the proposed speakers. Preference will be given to sessions that are coordinated with other APHA Sections. Please indicate whether your session is to be considered for CE credit and in what discipline(s). Student abstracts are strongly encouraged and will be included throughout the program of OHS sessions.
All abstracts received by the deadline will be blind-reviewed by Section members, and ranked for originality; interest; and importance to the field of occupational health and safety.
If you need assistance preparing your abstract, please do not hesitate to contact the Program Chair.
