Student Assembly Late Breaker: Current Topics in Student Research
This session will present findings from studies conducted by students ranging in topic from internet gun sales to a human rights approach for advocating on health disparities. Participants are encouraged to expand their knowledge of public health issues and to review the scientific findings of their peers.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1) Describe the process of a student scientific presentation; 2) Assess how internet gun vendors may be contributing to the problem of firearms-related violence; 3) Identify strategies that contracting government agencies can employ to promote the provision of difficult-to-contract community benefits; 4) Apply Social Cognitive Theory constructs to new childhood overweight and obesity interventions in the school setting; and 5) Discuss a human rights conceptual framework for advocating public discourse on health disparities.
