In Dayton Ohio, the Center for Healthy Communities (CHC) is at the nexus of the Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO). Over the past several years CHC has built an electronic Community Child Health Record. This session will demonstrate the web based HIEx™ application to participants. The elements of the record and workflow processes will be described. Sharing a health record across organizations, i.e. health information exchange shows the greatest cross sector benefit. School nurses, child welfare nurses, public health surveillance, physicians and payers all need accurate information about children wherever care is needed or evaluated. With HIEx™ health professionals in multiple organizations can access the same information about a child and record information on action they have taken with the child or with the child's family. Shared records improve safety and quality of care and pediatric records differ from those for an adult population. HIEx™ is easy to use, is transferable to other settings and demonstrates clear benefits for children's health.
