Civil liberties

Rarely if ever in U.S. history, even in wartime, have civil liberties and their constitutional mandates been under such sustained and systematic attack. Citizens and non-citizens alike may now arbitrarily labelled “enemy combatants” and imprisoned indefinitely without due process or habeas corpus rights. They are subject to wiretapping and other illegal searches without judicial warrants or review; the use of torture in interrogations; the illegal revocation of Congressional laws by presidential “signing statements,” and other violations of constitutional checks and balances. These and other violations will be reviewed.
