Aims: To find out the effectiveness of college alcohol policy for reducing the alcohol-related problems among college students.
Design and Samples: The Korean national samples were selected from Korean Council on University Education's list of accredited 4-year colleges by using probability proportionate to size of enrollment, types, and districts. Of the 208 accredited 4-year college, 28 college campuses students and Dean of Students Affairs responded with Korean College Alcohol Study (KCAS) campus and administration survey in 2003. In conducting the data analysis, 28 administrators and 1,065 student cases from 28 campuses were used.
Results: The probabilities of binge drinking among students in not at all alcohol policy campus are 1.71 times higher than among students in alcohol policy campus. The students who are enrolling the campus enforced alcohol policy not strongly are 2.09 times more likely to have binge drinking, 1.41 times more likely to have alcohol use disorder than the students who are enrolling the campus enforced alcohol policy strongly.
