Refractive error is one of the leading causes of visual impairment and blindness in the world. The Special Olympics Lions Clubs International Opening Eyes (SOLCIOE) team has developed a model to examine over 400 people in one day. This presentation will discuss the SOLCIOE screening tests and what decisions were made to maximize the efficiency of the screening and how it might be modified for adults.

SOLCIOE has been dispensing glasses to correct refractive error in 53 countries. We have examined almost 100,000 athletes and distributed over 37,000 pairs of glasses. How might this model be applied to the general population to render refractive eye care?
