Increasing attention is being paid to developing and implementing policies to mitigate climate change at the local, state and federal levels. This presentation will outline the current legislative, political and policy context facing APHA and other organizations concerned about global climate change, and will ground the panel's discussion in the most current information and best opportunities for political and policy change at the U.S. and international levels. In addition, potential partners in the advocacy community -- medical, nursing, public health, environmental and others –will be identified. These groups may be key allies for APHA in communicating the public health implications of global climate change and advocating for effective, sustainable policy solutions.

Learning Objectives:

• Describe the current political and policy context surrounding U.S. efforts to address global climate change.
• Identify potential partners in the medical, nursing, public health and environmental communities.
