Pregnancy Prevention and Parenting Programs that Meet Teens on Their Turf
This session features overviews of three interventions that reach out to help prevent pregnancy and/or assist parenting teens where they are--in their homes, schools, neighborhoods, and communities. The presentation features an overview of a community-school collaborative to reduce teen pregnany. The second discusses a home visiting program for teen mothers. The third provides an overview of a neighborhood based program to reduce disparities in teen pregnancy.
Learning Objectives: List three settings in which to reach out to teens with pregnancy prevention and/or parenting programs. Identify key steps to creating a comprehensive working collaborative. Describe the benefits of home visiting. Describe the components of a neighborhood-based public health program to reduce teen pregnancy.
