| This interesting session will focus on the epidemiology of asthma. Presentations will include a discussion of readmission rates and interventions to control pediatric asthma, the quality of electronic emergency department data for asthma and related respiratory diagnoses, and the impact of school opening on asthma hospital admissions. One session will focus on the prevalence of heroin use and heroin-related asthma symptoms among inner-city asthmatics. | ||||
| Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) will be able to: 1. Describe the challenges and potential problems in using readmission rates for asthma to evaluate intervention projects 2. Discuss the use of emergency department data for ongoing asthma surveillance, interventions, evaluation and research 3. Describe the neighborhood characteristics associated with incidence of hospital readmission for pediatric asthma 4. Determine the relationship of returning to school on children’s asthma hospital admissions | ||||
