LGBT Health Policy & Advocacy
This session will feature presentations by researchers containing information related to one of three themes. The first theme relates to methodologies used to address the diversity and subpopulations within LGBT communities. The second theme addresses evaluation of adoption of best practices by health care providers. The third theme will address methodological issues related to inclusion of sexual orientation, sexual behavior, and gender identity questions in large scale population surveys.
Learning Objectives: Following attendance at this session, participants will be able to: 1. Describe strengths and weakness of methods used to target diverse subpopulations within the LGBT communities 2. Understand and apply evaluation methods to assess the adoption of best practice methods by health care providers 3. Identify concerns and approaches for inclusion of questions that capture information on sexual orientation, sexual behavior, and gender identity in large scale surveys.
