Population-Focused Practice
The purpose of this session is to present a variety of strategies to address population-focused practice. The papers include an analysis of a health model and its application to mammography screening among Thai women; development of a diverse public health nursing workforce; implementation of a program for heart health; use of technology to augment research in rural areas; and the prediction of depressive symptoms among caregivers for children with asthma. The session will provide significant information for nurses and other health professionals in a variety of clinical, educational, and research settings.
Learning Objectives: 1. Discuss the Dimensions Model of Health as it relates to mammography screening among Thai women. 2. Discuss the importance of developing an educational pipeline to ensure a culturally competent and diverse public health nursing workforce. 3. Describe the implementation and evaluation of the Healthy Heart Program. 4. Describe how information technology can be used in rural research studies. 5. Discuss strategies needed to address predictors of depressive symptoms in caregivers of children with asthma.
