Health Promotion and Disease Prevention
This PHN session describe programs supporting health promotion and disease prevention activities in a variety of communities. Relevance for public health nursing practice, education and research is discussed.
Learning Objectives: 1. Identify barriers to accessing health care. 2. Describe specific local programs developed to promote health and reduce risk of chronic disease. 3. Describe motivational interviewing as an approach to facilitate behavior change. 4. Understand the process for tailoring health education based on literacy and cultural preferences
