| In 2005, the CDC National Center for Environmental Health, in conjunction with The National Leadership Network, Louisville Metro Health Department, and St. Louis University, inaugurated the first national Environmental Public Health Leadership Institute (EPHLI) to train leaders at the local, state, tribal, and federal level. The Institute provides a year-long series of leadership trainings, with new classes of Fellows selected each year. The Fellows complete leadership projects that improve the environmental health system and services in their communities. This session will describe the Institute, the accomplishments of the Fellows and their leadership projects that are changing the environmental health system in this country, and provide information on how to apply to the Institute in future years. | ||||
| Learning Objectives: 1. Understand the goals of the National Environmental Public Health Leadership Institute, and how to apply. 2. Describe the curriculum of the one-year leadership training program. 3. List the tangible outcomes of at least three leadership projects by Institute Fellows that improved the environmental health systems at the local, state, or federal level. | ||||
