| This session will present new data about the role of work permits in teen work experiences as well as ways to promote occupational safety and health training for workers with developmental disabilities. The session will also discuss self-reported child labor law violations among US youth working in the retail and service industries. There will also be information regarding the implementation of a teen educator developed survey used to characterize populations at risk of immigrant occupational health problems. There will also be discussions about involving youth in public health and policy as well as adolescent employment and physical activity. | ||||
| Learning Objectives: 1. At the conclusion of this session the participant will be able to identify three differences between youth workers with and without work permits 2. Recognize the extent of child labor violations being reported by young workers in the retail and service industries 3. Describe the current occupational health and safety training experiences of workers with developmental disabilities in the United States, based on the results of a recent needs assessment 4. Describe the challenges and benefits of training youth to become workplace health and safety advocates in their communities | ||||
