Emergency Preparedness
The purpose of this session is to present four exemplars related to emergency preparedness: infection control among hospital-based healthcare workers; burn related disasters; disaster response; and flu pandemics. The session will have relevance for public health nurses, in research, practice, and education.
Learning Objectives: 1.Describe a process used to develop core competencies and associated terminal objectives regarding infection prevention and control for hospital-based healthcare workers. 2.The learner will describe how the Burn Asset Resource Tracking System can be utilized during a burn related disaster. 3.Describe the challenges presented in collaboration with multiple key players in disaster preparedness planning. 4.To apply systems-focused public health nursing practice to community pandemic flu prevention.
