| The purpose of the session is to consider the role of Medicaid in the lives of women, as well as the central position that women's health issues occupy in the national debate over Medicaid both now and in the future. The relationship between Medicaid and women will be considered from many perspectives -- across the lifespan and for special sub-populations of women at particularly elevated health risks such as women who are immigrants, women of color, and women with serious and chronic conditions and disabilities. This session was organized by the APHA Committee on Women's Rights (see http://www.apha.org/about/gov/cowr/) in collaboration with the Jacobs Institute of Women's Health at George Washington University and the Kaiser Family Foundation. | ||||
