Motor Vehicle-Related Injury
Motor-vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death worldwide. This important session introduces attendees to the most recent research in this field, highlighting work on topics including dangerous intersections, safety belt use, older drivers, and novice teenage drivers.
Learning Objectives: 1. Evaluate factors that influence the risk of collision and injury from vehicle left turns. 2. Critique the effectiveness of rear seat belts for preventing injuries. 3. List factors associated with older drivers crashing at intersections. 4. Discuss parents’ views teenagers’ driving practices and licensing policies. 5. Describe factors associated with differences in seat belt usage across US counties.
