Roundtable
Working Together to Improve Health
These presentations in this session will be conducted in roundtable format. Topics in this session will discuss ways health educators and other health professionals can work together to address health issues. Some topics in this session include using technology to address violence against women, moral justification for HPV vaccination programs in adolescent girls, and the co-occurrence of health behaviors in African American and Latino populations. This session will also include roundtable discussions on the effectiveness of cancer support groups, sun safety, and music preference and sexual experience in adolescents. MRSA among athletes, an intervention to address girls’ self esteem, and the depiction of health, race, and gender in health dramas will also be topics of discussion.
Learning Objectives: At the end of the session, the participant will be able to: (1) Have a better understanding of the types of online support services accessed by cancer patients, and the common themes broached and functions utilized within these forums; (2) Learn how audience members view patient provider interactions on televised programs; (3) Describe differences in the co-occurrence of health behaviors among ethnically diverse men.
