| College students who engage in unsafe sexual practices are at risk for STIs, including HIV. Further, certain segments of the college population appear to be at greater risk than the general college student population. In this session, attendees will learn about such vulnerable segments of the college population. The first presentation focuses on the efficacy of a peer led program targeting college-age Hispanic females. In the second presentation, the key population is male, college football athletes and their knowledge, attitudes, and current sexual risk behaviors. The focal points of the third presentation also are knowledge, attitudes, and risk behaviors; however participants are African American students recruited from historically black colleges and universities. In the four presentation, risk perception of African American college females residing in the south will be described. In the final presentation, the author will discuss the efficacy of an intervention based on social norm theory on changing attitudes among college students. | ||||
| Learning Objectives: 1. Articulate current levels of HIV/AIDS knwoeldge and attitudes among college students. 2. Describe the sexual practices of college students. 3. Discuss prevention strategies that target college students. | ||||
