Outbreak Investigations
This infectious disease epidemiology round table session will focus on outbreak investigations. Various outbreaks will be described including murine typhus and the mumps. One talk will focus on investigating rabies while another talk will describe how these investigations can be impacted by the legal system.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) will be able to: 1. Describe the impact of the legal process on an outbreak investigation 2. Evaluate the effectiveness of the public health department's role in an outbreak in a hospital. 3. Develop a plan for risk communication and community health education. 4. Discuss the use of a multi-disciplinary Incident Command System (ICS) Structure for community epidemiological investigation
