| This section includes presentations examining various aspects regarding maternal and child health. Presentations will discuss an intervention to increase breastfeeding initiation by educating hospital and community-based clinicians; a campaign to raise awareness about postpartum depression; a holistic (body-mind-spirit) model to measure the behaviors and characteristics that contribute to a woman's overall wellness during pregnancy and how these factors relate to having a healthy baby; and segmenting women of childbearing age in regards to demographic and psychosocial variables related to folic acid. | ||||
| Learning Objectives: At the end of the session, the participant will be able to: (1) Describe strategies for filling knowledge gaps in their current clinician breastfeeding education programs; (2) Recognize the importance of audience segmentation in developing messages that both serve the needs of diverse maternal and child health audiences and effectively achieve program goals; (3) Discuss strengths of Latino culture and how these can be incorporated into a public health education campaign; (4) Identify factors that contribute to having a healthy pregnancy in this low-income minority population. | ||||
