Health Behaviors, Protective Factors, and HIV Intervention Programs
The focus of the presentation within this round table session is on intervention/prevention programs and healthy/unhealthy behaviors (e.g., cigarette smoking, exercise) and other factors of relevance among diverse, vulnerable segments of the US (e.g., GBT youth) and non-US populations (e.g., persons residing in China) Topics covered are as follows: (1) condom use as a function of sex act and partner type; (2) risk behaviors among injection drug users; (3) factors related to the implementation of sex education in the school setting; (4) access to ART; and (5) efficacy of an innovative intervention that does not require comprehension of written materials.
Learning Objectives: 1. Describe health behaviors and protective factors among diverse groups. 2. Evaluate theoretically based HIV interventions. 3. Discuss condom use behavior as a function of activity, partner type, and ethnicity.
