From June 2007 to August 2007 the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH), Office of Public Health (OPH), Center for Community Preparedness (CCP) hosted its second annual Operation Prepare field deployment exercise throughout the state. These unique health campaigns were designed to help communities/citizens better respond to public health emergencies by equipping them with the knowledge and resources to prepare themselves and their families for emergencies. The health initiative consisted of door-to-door health outreach with informational packet distribution of emergency preparedness educational materials about evacuation and disaster preparation to storm-affected communities and vulnerable populations.

Learning Objectives:
Objective 1: Discuss Louisiana’s efforts to better prepare citizens for emergencies. Objective 2: Discuss the results of the health initiative and it’s impact on the state. Objective 3: Discuss future field deployment initiatives planned by the state.
