This presentation will provide an overview of the current state of public health nursing in the United States. Selected characteristics of the current public health nursing workforce will be provided, as well as the most current activities undertaken by the QUAD Council to address contemporary issues in public health nursing practice, education, and research. Special attention will be paid to the elements of partnerships to enhance the work of the QUAD Council on behalf of public health nursing.

Learning Objectives:
Describe the current issues facing public health nursing. Discuss the activities of the QUAD Council with regard to addressing contrmporary public health nursing issues.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: As a nurse educator and nurse manager in a local public health agency, I have experience in dealing with the issue of public health nursing capacity and workforce challenges. I have 30 years of experience in the practice, education and research of public health nursing. I have planned, coordinated and organized other sessions such as this session on local, regional and national public health education and practice issues.
