This session explores the current use of mobile technology as a tool for health and serves to provide examples and lessons learned for utilizing this channel as it grows in importance and popularity. Panelists will first focus on current uses of text messaging (SMS), mobile user-generated content, and other mobile technology for health improvement. Panelists will also address future implications for the use of mobile technology for health, including expanded surveillance efforts, growth of mobile-based health communication and marketing efforts in developing countries, and incorporation of mobile technologies into integrated health marketing and social media strategies
Session Objectives: At the end of the session, participants will be able to: 1. Describe current domestic uses of mobile technology for health promotion; 2. Describe current international uses of mobile technology for health promotion; 3. Apply the process for integrating mobile technology into health marketing campaigns
