The Cancer Control P.L.A.N.E.T. web portal was launched in April 2003 in direct response to public health practitioner's needs for credible and reliable tools for developing evidence-based cancer control plans and programs. The site allows users to access tools, data and resources from national organizations such as the National Cancer Institute, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, American Cancer Society, Substance Abuse and Mental Services Administration, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and Commission on Cancer and easily incorporate scientific research into their planning and implementation processes. A lot has changed since the site was launched and training was provided over the past six years to states, tribes and territories. Some major changes to the P.L.A.N.E.T portal will be implemented in 2010 and this presentation will highlight these new and exciting features including: 1) Additional breast cancer prevalence data and new screening and risk factors data on State Cancer Profiles; 2) A virtual community of practice that brings together researchers and cancer control practitioners to develop dialogue around the successes and challenges of translating research into practice, including a Cyber-seminar series on Step 2 of the site; 3) Full access to Cochrane Reviews; 4) Mentorship program focused on moving research into practice; 5)Expansion of Research-tested Intervention Programs (RTIPs) website with search and sort functionality for over 100 posted programs, program implementation guides and new eligibility guidelines for submitting programs for inclusion on the site.
