Learning Objectives:
Ms. Gehlert, Online Communications Specialist at Berkeley Media Studies Group, will present and describe www.JointUse.Org, an online hub of existing joint use resources. The website facilitates communication among joint use supporters, gives the issue visibility and frames it in terms of fun, health and possibility. Containing joint use resources in English and Spanish, the award-winning site houses a discussion board, videos of joint use success stories, PhotoVoice photo essays by youth documenting barriers to physical activity, fact sheets, research summaries, policy analyses, recent news on joint use, resources for journalists, and social networking links. This presentation will show participants an effective and readily accessible tool for peer learning and highlight how web-based tools can be replicated to advance critical health and social justice issues.
