Reproductive health care is basic health care for women, but too many women lack access to the health care services, information, and social supports they need to stay healthy and to make healthy decisions for themselves and their families. The new health reform law, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), has many implications for women's health, including access to reproductive health services. This presentation will highlight key issues related to ACA implementation with an emphasis on the provisions that affect reproductive health care, including limitations on coverage for abortion care; advances in health insurance coverage of maternity care and family planning services; improvements in Medicaid coverage of family planning; and, investments in comprehensive sex education.
