The Oral Health Section is pleased to announce the ability to extend the deadline for abstract submissions.  The new deadline is Wednesday, February, 15, 2012, 11:59 Pacific Time.  

 

The Oral Health Section invites the submission of abstracts for individual paper presentations and poster sessions for the 2012 Annual Meeting.  The 140th Annual Meeting & Exposition will be held from October 27-31, 2012 in San Francisco, California. The theme of the meeting is Prevention and Wellness Across the Lifespan. Abstracts related to pertinent issues in dental public health and/or related to the theme are welcomed.

  • Dental Workforce Issues and Infrastructure
  • Effective Preventive Programs: Community Water Fluoridation and other Community Approaches
  • Epidemiology of Oral Diseases and Disparities
  • Integrated Medical and Oral Health Care Delivery Models
  • Oral Health Literacy
  • Oral Health Needs among Special Populations
  • Oral Health Policy and Financing Mechanisms
  • Oral Health Promotion, Health Communications and Social Media (Organized jointly with Public Health Education and Health Promotion)
  • Oral-Systemic Health Linkages
Joint sessions co-sponsored with other sections, special interest groups, and caucuses are encouraged. Abstracts will be selected through a rated review process according to significance, timeliness, and overall quality. Please note: • Abstracts should be no more than 250 words. • Authors must provide complete and accurate contact information to be notified of abstract status. • All presenters must be Individual members of APHA in order to present. • All presenters must register for the meeting. • Abstracts cannot be presented or published in any journal prior to the APHA Annual Meeting.

Continuing Education Credit: APHA values the ability to provide continuing education credit to physicians, nurses, health educators and those certified in public health at its annual meeting. The Oral Health Section also values the ability to provide ADA-CERP recognized continuing education credit to oral health professionals for participation in sessions developed by the Oral Health Section. ADA-CERP credits are provided through a joint sponsorship agreement with the American Dental Association. Please complete all required information when submitting an abstract so members can claim credit for attending your session. These credits are necessary for members to keep their licenses and credentials. For a session to be eligible for Continuing Education Credit, each presenter must provide: 1) An abstract free of trade and/or commercial product names 2) At least one MEASURABLE objective (DO NOT USE understand or to learn as objectives, they are not measurable). Examples of Acceptable Measurable Action Words: Explain, Demonstrate, Analyze, Formulate, Discuss, Compare, Differentiate, Describe, Name, Assess, Evaluate, Identify, Design, Define or List. 3) A signed Conflict of Interest (Disclosure) form with a relevant Qualification Statement.
