The University of Washington - Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit (PEHSU) has been involved with the King County Asthma Forum (KCAF), an American Lung Association and Public Health Seattle King County sponsored broad coalition created to improve the health of children in our community. Recently the KCAF was awarded a Robert Wood Johnson grant to reduce the asthma morbidity in low SES Seattle/King County children. The primary goal during the first year of funding is to broaden the KCAF coalition to include individuals and organizations who can speak to the strengths and specific needs of children with asthma, their families and their community. Subsequent years will build on this multiethnic organization effort to: 1) integrate and improve pediatric clinical care, school asthma management, self-management strategies, and control of indoor asthma triggers; and, 2) improve coordination among those involved in asthma care of children to include families, health care providers, schools, and in-home outreach workers. The audience will learn about the KCAF's multiethnic coalition building efforts and strategies identified through this coalition approach to best address pediatric asthma in the target community.

Learning Objectives: 1) learn about multiethnic coalition building efforts and strategies to address pediatric asthma in the target community
