AIDS Reality Check: Global Epidemiological Profile

Objective: As a session speaker I would present an epidemiological profile that will describe the impact HIV/AIDS has had globally. Additionally, I will display statistical data on the trends of HIV/AIDS for several African countries. Methods: Statistical data will be gathered from surveillance reports, internet searches and literature reviews. Results will be displayed using Corel Presentation slide show. Discussion: Participants will be able to identify trends and challenges for African countries. Specific concerns will also be addressed, relating to AIDS case definitions, drug affordability, vital records, societal impacts, and transient immigration.

Learning Objectives: In this session participants will be able to describe the impact of HIV/AIDS globally, more specifically, in Africa. They will also be able to articulate the challenges that will affect several countries survival in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
