Clearing the Air, Asthma and Indoor Air Exposures

The principal conclusions of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) report, "Clearing the Air, Asthma and Indoor Air Exposures"(2000) will be discussed. This report, which was commissioned by the Environmental Protection Agency, assessed the relationship between asthma and indoor air. The report covers several asthma-related topics, including a general overview of asthma, methodological considerations for the evaluation of data, indoor biologic exposures, indoor chemical exposures, environmental tobacco smoke, ventilation, and air cleaning. The speaker will highlight the major findings and public health implications of the NAS report.

Learning Objectives: Participants will become familiar with the main findings presented in the NAS report, Clearing the Air, Asthma and Indoor Air Exposures (2000), and have the opportunity to discuss same with one of the Academy members/study authors. The participants will understand the implications of the report for the public health community.
