Each panelist will provide an overview of specific management issues and strategies to help social workers be more effective managers.

Results: Panel presentations will inform attendees of: (1) trends, barriers and opportunities for social workers and strategies to increase our presence and influence in the healthcare arena; (2) the changing demands in healthcare delivery and detail leadership and programs that promote innovative interventions that meet the patients’ biopsychosocial needs; (3) specific issues facing African American social work managers; and (4) means to utilize program evaluation as a tool for utilization review, continuous quality improvement and protecting existing programs (5) systems implementation issues for meeting the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) confidentiality requirements.

Conclusions: The panel will provide social workers an opportunity to focus on specific management issues, operating within the framework of social work values, that can enhance organizational vision, strategic planning, and program effectiveness.
