ISSUE

Reaching the millions of African Americans with credible health education, risk reduction information has been a challenge. It has become clear that one effective method for reaching this group is thru Faith Based Organizations.

METHODS

The CDC, Division of HIV/AIDS has funded various Faith Organizations since 1988 to partner in the fight to reduce or eliminate the sprerad of HIV/AIDS. These Faith Based Organizations are now envolved in: a. Service Provision B. The delivery of capacity building assistance activities, to strengthen Service Provision c. Developing Tools for mobilizing Faith Leaders and the Faith Commnunity.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1. To increase participants knowledge of tools, trainning and other assistance available to Faith Based Organizations to help prevent the spread of HIV. 2. To build understanding of CDC supported Faith Based Public Health Strategies.
