Vicente Navarro, Professor, Health Policy and Management, Johns Hopkins University, 624 N. Broadway, Rm 448, Baltimore, MD 21205, 410-955-3280, vnavarro@jhsph.edu

This panel will discuss the role of the WHO, W.T.O., World Bank, IMF, and other international agencies in reproducing policies that are harmful to the health of the populations. The panel will also criticize the concept of globalization indicating that internationalization of economic activities is not intrinsically good or bad: rather, it depends on what governments control that process and for whose purposes. The large influence of U.S. government in those agencies makes them reproduce values that commercialize health and health care.

Learning Objectives: globalization
