Healthy People 2010: Adult Mental Health and Participation

Participation in life activities is the most important outcome of every objective in the healthy people process. Emphasis on societal participation, mental health, and life satisfaction are usually associated with the level of emotional support. Objectives addressing these related dynamics are included in this chapter. This presentation will discuss the importance and interaction of the objectives focusing on mental health and societal participation. Particular attention will be given to interventions that will cross objectives.

Learning Objectives: Participants will have a clear understanding of the interaction of the mental health and participation-related objectives in the chapter, and will be able to identify policies and programs that will contribute to meeting the targets of the objectives.
