Selecting effective screening instruments to detect sensory neuropathy

The objective of the presentation is to discuss the effectiveness of screening tools for sensory neuropathy to detect patients at risk of foot ulceration. We will discuss the predictive value of the Vibramitor, the Semmes-Weinstein monofilament and the neuropathy star. These tools are non-invasive, and provide good sensitivity, specificity and positive predictive values to identify patients with loss of protective sensation.

Learning Objectives: The objective is to understand the screening tools available foor sensory screening in at risk patients.
