From SWOT to sweat: Strategic opportunities and future directions in achieving Healthy People 2010 objectives

Health promotion is a shared responsibility of many sectors, including government, business, health practitioners, academia and others, and many levels from international and national to local and institutional . The involvement of these sectors and levels in an ecological strategy will be essential for achieving the Healthy People 2010 tobacco control objectives. The presenter will identify strategic plans for all involvement of sectors to contribute to achievement of the Healthy People 2010 objectives through individual and collaborative activities, and will describe a framework for addressing priority activities. The importance of eliminating disparities in tobacco control will be addressed. The current and future directions at CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health will be described and related to Healthy People 2010 objectives.
