Part I--Getting Started: Implementing National Performance Standards

Over the past three years, ASTHO, NACCHO, NALBOH, PHF and APHA have been working with CDC to develop three assessment tools for local, state, and governance public health systems to be used for the National Public Health Performance Standards Program. Now that the tools have been finalized, the program begins to move into a new phase---Implementation. During Part I, sample tools will be provided and reviewed, the resources necessary to undertake the assessment will be discussed along with advice on how to convene the necessary partners and the time commitment needed to complete the process. Panelist will also discuss the resources available, what type and how to receive technical assistance, types of data analysis that will be done and discussion of the types of reports that will be generated from the data. Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the particicpant in this session will be able to: 1)Describe the three levels of system assessment tools of the National Public Health Performance Standards Program; 2)Access web-based assessment tools on line; 3)Identify resources and technical assistance available to complete the performance standards process.
