The Latino Children’s Health Network (LatCHN) is a new New Orleans based coalition of Latino advocates and Latino-serving organizations, dedicated to improving the health of Latino children in the Greater New Orleans Area. Begun in early 2001, LatCHN’s first major joint effort was a Latino Children’s Health Fair, the first to take place in the city, held April 2001 in a predominantly Latino housing development in Kenner, Louisiana. The coalition has also become involved in the implementation of the LACHIP (Louisiana’s Children’s Health Insurance Program) in the Latino community. This poster describes the process of creating the coalition, planning the Latino Children’s Health Fair, becoming involved in the LACHIP work, and developing plans for future work.

Learning Objectives: Objectives: To describe the development of the Latino Children’s Health Network as a vehicle for promoting Latino children’s health; To discuss challenges of bringing LACHIP to the Latino community; To examine the Latino Children’s Health Fair as a means of promoting the health of Latino families while building the coalition.
