Review of Recent Epidemiologic studies of Vietnam Veterans and Relevant U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Activities

A number of epidemiologic studies of Vietnam veterans have been completed recently and reported by Australian, Korean and U.S. investigators. Several important health studies of U. S. Vietnam veterans such as the Air Force Health Study and the Army Chemical Corps Vietnam Veterans Health Study are still on-going. This review will update and discuss completed as well as the on-going health studies. In addition, recent government actions with respect to 1) providing medical care and compensation to children with birth defects born to women Vietnam veterans, and 2) the status of the fourth NAS panel report on the health affects of herbicides used in Vietnam will be reviewed and discussed.

Learning Objectives: 1. Learn the results of recently completed Vietnam veterans health studies. 2. Learn recent VA acitivites and programs related to U.S.Vietnam veterans.
