Abstract #32232

Baby’s initial oral evaluation; screening & detection of incipient problems; risk factors for early childhood caries

Peter Catapano, DDS, Pediatric Dental Clinic, Bellvue Hospital Center, New York, NY, 212-562-6537, pcatapano@bhc.org

The first visit to the dentist of a mother with her infant should be viewed as a “well-baby visit”. Screening and detection of incipient problems can easily be done by non-dental health professionals who are aware of the risk factors.

Learning Objectives: Participants will know: 1. The correct timing for a baby’s first dental visit. 2. How to detect incipient problems during screening.

Keywords: Oral Health, Infant Health
