Oral facial injuries/child abuse

Infants and toddlers with injuries to the teeth or orofacial structures may be brought first to an emergency room doctor or pediatrician. They must be aware that other structures in the area may have been damaged. Child abuse may be a factor.

Learning Objectives: Participants will know: 1. Emergency course of action. 2. Importance of careful assessment and early referral to a pediatric dentist. 3. To check for signs of abuse and neglect.
