Abstract #32358

Botanical Medicine: Burgeoning Public Interest But Inadequate Professional Education Programs and Few Authoritative Textbooks

Joseph Pizzorno, ND, Bastyr University, , drpizzorno@qwest.net

Public and professional utilization of botanical medicines has increased dramatically the past decade. However, the development of accredited, education programs has not kept pace. In addition, while the public has a plethora of books available to provide superficial guidance, few authoritative textbooks are available. This presentation reviews and evaluates the educational programs and textbooks currently available to healthcare professionals.

Learning Objectives: Participant will comprehend the need for professional educational programs and readily available, high-quality, botanical textbooks.
